Every calligrapher works at their own size and their own angle. SlantLeaf starts from a sheet on screen and lets you move the measurements until it is the sheet you wanted: the body height of the letter, how far ascenders reach above it and descenders below, the gap between rows, the angle of the slant lines and how far apart they sit.
Choose A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, and a margin. Rules come in three strengths: the lightest for writing straight onto the sheet, the darkest intended as an underlay, where how well it shows through depends on your paper. The baseline is set stronger than the other rules so it is easy to find.
Name a setup once and it is there next time. Setups can be renamed, duplicated to try a different size, and deleted. The sheet you were last working on is still there when you reopen the app.
Sheets export as a vector PDF at the true page size, not a picture of the screen, so the lines stay crisp at any zoom. Send it through the iPhone share sheet to Files or anywhere else, or open the system print interface. The app sets the matching orientation and asks for the closest paper size your printer reports as loaded; check the selection before you print.
Printing at the right size. Print at 100% or actual size and turn off any fit-to-page or scale-to-fit option your printer offers. Then measure the 50 mm reference line SlantLeaf can print in the footer: it helps you check the print scale, and a line that does not measure 50 mm means something rescaled the page.
Whether a given printer and driver honour that is up to the printer. SlantLeaf cannot control it and makes no promise about it, which is exactly why the reference line is there. The preview on screen is scaled to fit your display and is not physical size.
Everything is included: all the measurements, saved setups, PDF export, sharing and printing. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads and no account. Making a sheet needs no network connection.
It draws blank guidelines for practising on real paper. It does not teach calligraphy and it does not give you letters to copy: there are no lessons, no alphabet exemplars, no letterform templates and no tracing fonts. The writing on the page is yours.
